Calendar of Events

2017-2018 Season Calendar of Events:

  • Saturday, August 26th at 2:00 pm in CMS 101 at TTU
    • FDT will offer a FREE public showing of the repertoire we will tour to Ft. Worth in November. Please come and give us some feedback!
  • Friday, October 6th, 2017 (locations and times TBA)
    • FDT will perform site-specific pop-up dances all around the LHUCA campus as part of the First Friday Art Trail
  • Friday, November 3rd, 2017 at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:15 pm in the Icehouse Theatre at LHUCA
    • FDT will perform excerpts of our new works in progress at part of the First Friday Art Trail
  • Friday, November 10th, 2017 at 8:00 pm at the Ft. Worth Convention Center
    • FDT is invited to perform an evening-length concert of original work that bridges dance and music, co-directed by Kris Olson and Ali Duffy. This is a FREE performance, but you must reserve a attendance in advance. For reservations, please send an email to by September 1st.
  • Thursday, November 30th and Saturday, December 2nd, 2017 at 7:30 pm in LHUCA’s Firehouse Theatre
    • Origin Stories, an original, evening-length production, features world-premiere works exploring ancestry through dance.
  • Friday and Saturday, May 11th-12th, 2018 at 7:30 pm in LHUCA’s Firehouse Theatre
    • Love, Your Mother, an original, evening-length production, features world-premiere dance and musical works exploring motherhood.


Past Performances

June 12th-16th, 2017 – The first annual FDT Young Dancers Workshop held at the Icehouse Theatre for children ages 8-14. Creative explorations of dance performance and choreography focused on the elements of the West Texas landscape, culminated in a public performance called “Dusty Feet” on Friday, June 16th at 11:30 am

Saturday, May 27th, 2017 – Sarah Mondle’s and Kristy Kristinek’s collaborative work Gestures to tour to San Antonio, TX

April 28th and 29th at 8:00 pm in the Firehouse Theatre at LHUCA  – Movie Night: A Dance-and-Sing-Along

February 4th, 2017 in Charlotte, NC – FDT company member Allison Pelham has been commissioned to perform Ali Duffy’s work Trace at UNC Charlotte

Friday, October 28th 8:00 pm and Saturday, October 29th at 8:00 pm in the Firehouse Theatre – Tricks and Treats: Flatlands Dance Theatre’s Halloween Spooktacular 

Friday, September 2nd, 6:30-9:00 pm at the Reagor Dykes Outdoor Stage at LHUCA – FDT on the First Friday Art Trail

August 4-7, 2016 – Ordinary Wars, an evening-length work choreographed by Genevieve Durham DeCesaro, Ali Duffy, and Kyla Olson will be presented by invitation at the Groves Conference on Marriage and Family in Denver, Colorado For more info: Ordinary WarsGroves Conference on Marriage and Family

Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 at 8:00 pm and Sunday, April 3rd at 2:00 pm in the Firehouse Theatre – Lines and Light: An Evening of Dance and Visual Arts featured the choreography of two nationally renowned guest artists, adjudicated and selected by a competitive process. These artists are Sarah Arnett and Brooklyn Draper. This show also featured six FDT choreographers and 19 FDT performers, plus several visual artists.

Friday, March 4th, 2016 at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 pm at the LHUCA Outdoor Plaza – FDT performed excerpts of new works in progress and guest artist works as part of the First Friday Art Trail.

Friday October 23-Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 8:00 pm in the Firehouse Theatre @ LHUCA – Texas Icons of Music: A Rockin’ Evening of Dance featured live rock music of the legends of Texas rock and roll, along with the choreography and performance of FDT and historical interludes from guest artist and History of Rock and Roll professor Roger Landes.

October 3, 2015 –  FDT performed with collaborator Kristy Kristinek in Gestures as part of the TTU Arts Practice Conference.

Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Buddy Holly Center – FDT performed excerpts of our upcoming show,Texas Music Icons as part of the First Friday Art Trail.

August, 2015 – Dance Adventures Children’s Creative Dance Classes offered for children ages 5-11.

April 18, 2015 – FDT performed In Quiet Tribute at the Austin Dance Festival hosted by Kathy Dunn Hamrick

April 16, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the Firehouse Theatre – Ordinary Wars featured as the keynote performance at the 31st Annual Conference on the Advancement of Women

April 10-11, 2015 at 8:00 pm in the Firehouse Theatre – Wanderlust: Think Globally, Dance Locally – Our spring concert was comprised of two interdisciplinary works, each exploring travel, adventure, transformation, and the idea of “home.” The first act, called Acts of Absence features performances by esteemed guest artist Sarah Gamblin and the choreography of the Big Rig Dance Collective. The second act, called Nivedita tells the epic tale of Sister Nivedita through music composed and performed by Curtis Peoples and choreography by Ali Duffy, Sarah Mondle, Kyla Olson, and Rachel Ure.

April 3 from 6-9 pm in the LHUCA Plaza – Excerpts of Wanderlust on the Art Trail

March 6 from 6-9 pm in the 5th and J Gallery – The Choreography of Painting – Flatlands Dance Theatre in collaboration with visual artist Kristy Kristinek for a truly unique performance and visual arts experience featuring mixed media painting, improvisation, and dance.

November 8, 2014 – FDT will collaboration with the Texas Tech University Dance Company on a special outdoor concert event in Memorial Circle at TTU as part of Autumn Fest.

This is a FREE event, but donations are always welcome if you like what you experience. March 24th-28th, 2013 – Flatlands Dance Theatre was commissioned to tour to Blacksburg, Virginia to perform Ordinary Wars and teach master classes at Virginia Tech.

Saturday, March 23rd, 2013 at 7:00 pm; Lab Theatre at TTU – Ordinary Wars Flatlands Dance Theatre as part of a TTU sponsored grant, performed various works that deal with the joys and pains of marriage and family.

Friday, January 11th and Saturday, January 12th – Barefoot Brigade Dance Festival, Dallas, TX (performed Sarah Mondle’s “In Quiet Tribute”)

Friday, November 2nd and Saturday, November 3rd, 2012 at 7:00 pm; Firehouse Theatre at LHUCA –  LOL: An Evening of Dance and Laughter – Flatlands Dance Theatre’s 2012-2013 season kicks off with a production that is sure to tickle your funny bone! Dance works will focus on ideas and conceptual underpinnings of humor and comedy, ranging from slapstick to the absurd to the darker side of comedy and everything in between.
