2014-2015 Season Calendar of Events

  • Friday, April 3 from 6-9 pm in the LHUCA Plaza – FDT will perform excerpts of our upcoming show Wanderlust in LHUCA’s brand new plaza space as part of the First Friday Art Trail. This is a FREE event!
  • Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 8:00 pm in the Firehouse Theatre – Wanderlust: Think Globally, Dance Locally ; Our spring concert is comprised of two interdisciplinary works, each exploring travel, adventure, transformation, and the idea of “home.” The first act, called Acts of Absence features performances by esteemed guest artist Sarah Gamblin and the choreography of the Big Rig Dance Collective. The second act, called Nivedita tells the epic tale of Sister Nivedita through music composed and performed by Curtis Peoples and choreography by Ali Duffy, Sarah Mondle, Kyla Olson, and Rachel Ure. You don’t want to miss this exciting evening of live dance and music, digital media, and guest artists from all over the state of Texas.
  • Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the Firehouse Theatre – Ordinary Wars will be featured as the keynote performance at the 31st Annual Conference on the Advancement of Women – FREE event!
  • Saturday, April 18th, 2015 in Austin, TX – FDT has been invited to perform in the Austin Dance Festival hosted by Kathy Dunn Hamrick. We will perform Sarah Mondle’s In Quiet Tribute.
  • Sunday, April 26th, 2015 from 1:00-3:00 pm in CMS 101 – FDT Company and Apprentice Company Audition


Past Performances

March 6 from 6-9 pm in the 5th and J Gallery – The Choreography of Painting – Flatlands Dance Theatre in collaboration with visual artist Kristy Kristinek for a truly unique performance and visual arts experience featuring mixed media painting, improvisation, and dance.

November 8, 2014 – FDT will collaboration with the Texas Tech University Dance Company on a special outdoor concert event in Memorial Circle at TTU as part of Autumn Fest.

October 17 and Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 8:00 pm in the Firehouse Theatre – Encore: The Best of Flatlands Dance Theatre;

October 4, 2013 – First Friday Art Trail; FDT will present an improvised dance event that coincides with Valerie Hill’s art work in the Open Spaces exhibit at the Buddy Holly Center form 7-8 pm

Friday, September 20 at 8:00 pm in the Creative Movement Studio Blackbox Theatre – Ordinary Wars; Tickets will be sold at the door only and are $5 for students and $10 for General Admission.September 6, 2013 – First Friday Art Trail (FDT will present a show at 6:30 at McPherson Cellars, a show at 7:30 at LHUCA Studio Flats, and another show at McPherson at 8:30. April 13, 2013 10-11 am at the Creative Movement Studio at TTU – “Family Togetherness Through Dance,” a community family dance class; children and adults are welcome! FDT dancers will guide families through activities and movement phrases that will get your heart pumping and your creative juices flowing! This is a FREE event, but donations are always welcome if you like what you experience. Come have some fun with FDT April 6, 2013, 6-8 pm at the Charles Adams Gallery – Taste of Dance, fund raising event for FDT

March 24th-28th, 2013 – Flatlands Dance Theatre was commissioned to tour to Blacksburg, Virginia to perform Ordinary Wars and teach master classes at Virginia Tech.

Saturday, March 23rd, 2013 at 7:00 pm; Lab Theatre at TTU – Ordinary Wars Flatlands Dance Theatre as part of a TTU sponsored grant, performed various works that deal with the joys and pains of marriage and family.

Friday, January 11th and Saturday, January 12th – Barefoot Brigade Dance Festival, Dallas, TX (performed Sarah Mondle’s “In Quiet Tribute”)

Friday, November 2nd and Saturday, November 3rd, 2012 at 7:00 pm; Firehouse Theatre at LHUCA –  LOL: An Evening of Dance and Laughter – Flatlands Dance Theatre’s 2012-2013 season kicks off with a production that is sure to tickle your funny bone! Dance works will focus on ideas and conceptual underpinnings of humor and comedy, ranging from slapstick to the absurd to the darker side of comedy and everything in between.

Saturday, September 22-Sunday, September 23 at 2:00 pm, Waco, TX – {254} Dance Festival (performed Ali Duffy’s “Of Earth and Sky” and Genevieve Durham DeCesaro/Kyla Olson’s “See the Modern Woman”)

Thursday, August 30th, 2012 at 7:00 pm in The Black Box Theatre in the Creative Movement Studio at TTU – Flatlands Dance Theatre as part of a TTU sponsored grant, performed various works in progress that deal with the joys and pains of marriage and family.
